IceAway Dock De-icer | Protect Marinas and Boats
Why You'll Love It
Overview ▾
Localized Winter Protection for Docks and Waterfront Structures
IceAway is a 1/2 HP suspended pond and dock de-icer for property owners who leave in docks, pilings, boat lifts, slips, and other defined waterfront structures in the water through winter. It provides a practical option when removing those structures is not realistic.
The foul-resistant propeller turns at 3,450 RPM and moves water through a cone diffuser. Instead of using a heating element, IceAway brings warmer subsurface water upward and directs it toward the area being protected to help limit ice formation and pressure.
IceAway is intended for localized ice management, not for clearing an entire pond or lake. The size and shape of the open water may vary with placement, installation depth, water depth, dock layout, current, air temperature, available heat in the water, and the length and severity of the freeze.
Key Benefits ▾
Built to Stay In & Runs Without Oil Related Upkeep
- Protect the structures that stay in the water: Direct circulation around docks, pilings, boat lifts, slips, and other defined waterfront assets instead of trying to open the entire pond.
- Cone directed circulation: The motor, foul-resistant propeller, and cone diffuser work together to control the direction of the discharge rather than relying on pushing water volume alone.
- Sealed, water-cooled motor: Water cools the motor so there is no oil reservoir to monitor and maintain. Thus removing any risk of leak into the water.
- Supports winter gas exchange: Under suitable pond conditions, the open water area can support contact between the water and atmosphere. Allowing gases to be released and exchanged that would otherwise become trapped.
- Ready for suspended installation: Two 10-foot suspension ropes are included for positioning the unit at the required depth and angle.
Applications ▾
Use IceAway Where Winter Pressure Threatens a Defined Structure
Best suited for: Docks that remain installed through winter, pilings, boat lifts, slips, marinas, and other targeted waterfront areas where warmer water can be directed toward the structure.
Plan placement around the site: Installation depth, operating angle, water depth, structure layout, and local freeze conditions affect the circulation pattern. Large footprints, shallow water, unusual layouts, or severe freezes may require more than one unit or a different placement plan.
Not designed for: Clearing an entire pond or lake, or to create safe recreational ice because moving water creates thin and unstable ice around the edges of the open water area.

Choose the Correct Voltage and Cord Length Before Ordering
Both voltage configurations provide the same rated circulation. The 230V configuration draws fewer amps, but voltage alone does not determine whether a power run is suitable. Confirm the electrical service and measure the actual cable route before choosing a cord length.

Electrical planning: Confirm available voltage, circuit capacity, connections, and required groundfault protection before installation. Consult an electrician when the conductor sizing, or voltage drop planning is uncertain.
Maintenance and operation: Periodically inspect the power cord, propeller, cone diffuser, and suspension ropes for weed buildup, physical damage, or wear. Disconnect power before touching, inspecting, or repositioning the unit. The motor must remain properly submerged while operating.
